Level 10 Eurospa owner Leanne Boyd’s commitment to excellence and promise to offer professional service above and beyond client’s expectations has not wavered in three decades.
“It’s about ensuring every client’s visit is a ‘beautiful experience’,” she says. “This, along with our commitment to innovation and helping protect the environment attributes to the fact we have been in business for 30 years.”
Originally starting in a smaller space, she moved her business to their current location in 1994 and Comox Valley’s first day spa was born. Level 10 Eurospa offers hair design, facials, manicures and pedicures, relaxation massage, hydrotherapy and body treatments, skin rejuvenation and medical aesthetics.
Providing employment for upwards to 20 professionals is very rewarding for Leanne. “I strive to create and maintain an exceptional working environment that attracts the best in our industry who happily want to be part of the L10 Team long term. This results in an atmosphere where clients have confidence in us, feel very special and love to come visit.”
A Certified Green Circle Salon, Level 10 diverts 95% of all salon and spa waste out of the landfills and waterways. “With over 30,000 hair salons in Canada, our industry’s environmental impact is significant,” she notes. “So when I discovered a way we could become sustainable, I didn’t hesitate!” The first GCS in the area, they have reduced their harmful effects by diverting 4 tonnes of waste since 2014.
Level 10’s own skincare, hair and body care, L10haute Naturals, was created in 2010 ensuring the utmost in quality products for their clients. Continually researching, training and adding new services to L10’s menu, their most recent introduction is Vinotherapy. “For this ancient therapy, we use wine to heal and rejuvenate the body,” she says. “We have collaborated with 40Knots Winery to create spa treatments that are natural, effective and align with our sustainability and green certifications.”
A fierce advocate of supporting local, in turn, Leanne has been generously supported and recognized by the community and beyond. Level 10 has been awarded Comox Valley Business of the Year, Vancouver Island Retail Business of the Year, an EcoStar Award for Greenest Retailer Vancouver Island and was the first ever recipient of Comox Valley’s Sustainability Award. As well, Level 10 received a Canadian Business Award for Innovative Salon & Spa, and a Lux Life Health, Beauty and Wellness Award.
It’s been quite a journey for Leanne who still works behind her chair several days a week. “I am extremely grateful for the continued love and support and truly honored to be nominated for a Heritage Recognition award this year. It’s the pièce de resistance and doesn’t make me feel old at all!” she laughs.
